RECAP: Marlins Offense Explodes In 14-5 Win Over Phillies

Marlins Hit Just One Longball In 14 Run Outburst


The Marlins got back on track at home Wednesday night, shellacking the Phillies in a 14-5 victory.

Nate Eovaldi got the start and picked up his third win and went six innings allowing three runs (one earned) while giving up 10 hits and 1 walk with 2 strikeouts.

The story of the game was the Marlins’ offense though, as the team scored a season high 14 runs on 14 hits. In fact, everyone in the starting lineup except Giancarlo Stanton and Nate Eovaldi picked up a hit last night.

The Marlins also had seven different players pick up RBI’s on the night.

However, the Marlins hit just one home run en route to scoring those 14 runs, courtesy of this guy.

Player Of The Game: Marcell Ozuna

Marcell Ozuna led the way for the Marlins offense on Wednesday, as he went 2-4 with 5 RBI’s.

Ozuna’s last hit did the most damage, though, as he hit his seventh homer of the season, and first career grand slam, with 2 out in the 7th inning off of Jeff Manship:

Giancarlo Stanton didn’t collect a hit, but he showed off his defensve last night, as he preserved the Marlins 5-3 lead in the top half of the fifth with this diving catch:
