The Mariners have just announced that they have placed OF/DH Corey Hart on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. The team has recalled INF Nick Franklin from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Hart, 32, signed a one-year deal with Seattle this past offseason and has hit .209 with 5 HR’s and 17 RBI’s in 37 games with the team so far this season.
Part of the reason Hart had to settle for a one-year deal this offseason had to do with his injury-riddled past, not to mention the fact that he missed the entire 2013 season, and he has not been what the Mariners thought he would be to this point.
Franklin, 23, is a career .221 hitter with 12 HR’s and 45 RBI’s in 109 career games. He got off to a fast start last season but struggled down the line, eventually ceding the starting shortstop role to Brad Miller.
