According to MLB.com, the Oakland Athletics announced today that they have recalled first baseman Nate Freiman from Triple-A Sacramento and placed outfielder Josh Reddick on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee strain.
This is the second time this season that Josh Reddick has been placed on the disabled list this season. He initially was sidelined when he suffered a hyperextended right knee in Oakland’s 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on May 31.
Since his return he had batted (5 for 11) with three RBI in four starts in right field before reinjuring his knee in last night’s game.
Freiman, who spent the entire 2013 season with Oakland and batted .274 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 80 games, is hitting .277 with 20 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs and 69 RBI in 76 games with Sacramento.
His RBI total leads the Pacific Coast League while his homers are tied for seventh in the PCL.
