Jim Leyland ‘Brought The Tigers Back’

Jim LeylandJim Leyland deserves gratitude. Criticize him for the situational blunder inevitable for a manager entrusted with making dozens upon dozens of split second decisions over the course of a single game.

But the man deserves credit for making baseball relevant in Detroit the eight years.

When he came here following the Alan Trammell managerial disaster in the fall of 2005, the only recognizable summer baseball buzz was the snoring from the disinterested… until the Tigers reached the World Series twice during his tenure.

If the Tigers remain committed to being a high-priced, superstar-driven championship contender for the foreseeable future, they must replace Leyland with a manager who knows how to best coexist with the enormous egos and diverging personalities of the superstar.
