Giancarlo Stanton leads the National League with 21 home runs and 59 RBIs, but surprisingly isn’t scheduled to start the All-Star game this July.

Even if he doesn’t start the game, though, he is as sure of a lock as there is to represent the Marlins at the Midsummer Classic.

Were 80 games through the season, which means we’ll be halfway through it when the Marlins games concludes this evening, and it has been fun to watch a Miami team that wasn’t expected to contend in the middle of the playoff hunt.

The Marlins are 2.5 games back of the Braves and Nats for first place, and much of this success is due to the aforementioned 24-year-old slugger Stanton.
