Three batters into Game 5, it appeared that Dodgers starter Zack Greinke was headed for a very long day.
A four-pitch walk book-ended by bloop singles put the right-hander in a bases-loaded, no-out crisis in the first inning of an elimination game — the scenario of his worst nightmares, essentially.
But, somehow, he escaped. After getting clean-up hitter Matt Adams to whiff at a 2-2 breaking ball, Greinke got a double-play chopper down to third from Yadier Molina to end the threat.
Meanwhile, Joe Kelley has had no problems thus far, throwing a scoreless first.
