Dusty Baker Would Be ‘Flattered’ To Manage The Tigers

Dusty ManagingDusty Baker heard from general manager Dave Dombrowski about a managerial opportunity a quarter of a century ago. He’d be thrilled to hear from him again now.

Perhaps more than anyone else available to the Detroit Tigers, Baker has two stand-out qualifications to manage them next season: He has considerable experience at managing both championship teams and the biggest of stars, including Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa.

If Dombrowski decides that a bilingual manager is an asset, Baker qualifies on that count too because he has spoken Spanish since he was in high school.

As much as anyone they could hire, Baker probably would have instant credibility with all the players.
