It’s often forgotten amidst the towering home runs, reckless injuries and clown questions, bro, but Bryce Harper is a devout Mormon. If it’s not brought up a lot, it’s because Harper likes it that way.
“If somebody asks me about [religion], I’ll tell them about it, but I’m not going to be Mr. Tim Tebow,” Harper told The Washington Times, referring to Tebow’s proselytizing and not his unemployment and completely inability to throw.
The 20-year-old All-Star quickly mentioned that he didn’t mean that in a derogatory way. He spreads the word in different ways.
Harper didn’t go on the usual Mormon mission, because he said his mom said he could do more good playing baseball. ”What I say is, ‘I try to be the best walking Book of Mormon as I can,’” he said.
