Cardinals Catch the Pirates

Cardinals_Pirates_2013Major League Baseball’s tightest division race is a little tighter after the St. Louis Cardinals salvaged the finale of their three-game series at Pittsburgh.

The Cards beat the Pirates 7-2 to put the two clubs in a first-place tie in the National League Central, 3 ½ games ahead of Cincinnati. Matt Holliday and David Freese (freez) each had two RBIs to back Joe Kelly, who allowed one run and four hits in six innings. Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig, Yadier (YAH’-dee-her) Molina and Shane Robinson had two hits apiece to help Kelly win his fourth straight start and end the Cardinals’ three-game skid.
