MLB Playoffs: Wildcard Breakdown

With around 24-games left in the 2013 MLB season it will be a wild finish to the playoffs. Here is a breakdown of the nine teams fighting for four playoff spots.

American League
The Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics are battling for the top spot in the west and the loser will end up in the wildcard.

The Tampa Bay Rays are 3-7 in their last 10-games, what seemed like a lock last week is now on shaking ground.

The New York Yankees are 7-3 in their last 10-games and are now 2.5 games back for the final playoff spot. A three-game set in the Bronx against the Rays will determine their fate.

The Cleveland Indians and the Baltimore Orioles need a baseball miracle.

National League
The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds have 23-games to determine home-field advantage for the one-game playoff.

The Washington Nationals and the Arizona Diamondbacks are not eliminated yet, but they should be.
