Mickelson Admits He's Nervous This Year At Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. Funny to hear him say it, but Phil Mickelson is nervous about his performance this week at the Masters.
The three-time Masters winner has averaged a seventh-place finish over the last 12 years. Doesnt sound like a reason to be nervous.
But this is about preparation and Mickelson likes to play the week before a major championship. He did not play the Texas Open last week because he didnt feel the course or conditions suited his needs for this week at Augusta National.
I was watching San Antonio the last few years that was windy and tight, which is the exact opposite of how I want to prepare for the Masters, Mickelson said Tuesday. I want to flight the ball up in the air to get the ball soft as opposed to down to keep it out of the wind.
I love this tournament so much and Im nervous because I havent been in competition since the Sunday of the Houston Open. It will be 10, 11 days, I guess, as opposed to three and thats what Im nervous about.
