Miami’s Perryman and Johnson Named to Preseason All-American Team
Miami Hurricanes senior LB Denzel Perryman and junior RB Duke Johnson were named to Phil Steele’s 2014 Preseason All-American Team.
Perryman picked up first-team honors, while Johnson received third-team recognition. Both Perryman and Johnson were Miami’s two first-team Preseason All-ACC honorees by Phil Steele earlier this week.
A second-team All-ACC performer in 2013, Johnson rushed for 920 yards and six TDs in eight games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. The Miami native enters his junior season with 1,867 career rushing yards in 20 games. As a rookie in 2012, Johnson was named first-team Freshman All-America as a kick returner by Steele.
Perryman, a first-team All-ACC selection and All-America honorable mention (SI.com), led the Hurricanes with 108 tackles in 13 games at outside linebacker. In 34 games, Perryman has 241 career tackles and 17.5 tackles for loss.
