Marlins, Jacob Turner Runs Into Trouble Early
Since Jacob Turner picked up his last win on July 10th, all Marlins manager Mike Redmond said he and pitching coach Chuck Hernandez have been hoping to do is get the 22-year old right-hander out of a game on a positive note.
It didn’t happen Sunday. Turner struggled again, lasting a season-low four innings as the Nationals closed out the series by taking the rubber match 6-4 in front of 18,990 at Marlins Park.
Given a 3-1 lead in the second thanks to a pair of balks by Stephen Strasburg, Turner couldn’t protect it, surrendering nine hits and five earned runs before Redmond finally pulled the plug.
