Miami Dolphins Wanted Tavon Austin

The Miami Dolphins shocked everyone when the team traded up with the Oakland Raiders for the third overall pick, and then took Oregon pass-rusher Dion Jordan. But, according to NFL Network’s Jeff Darlington, that was not the original plan.

Many people and mock drafts had the Dolphins taking an offensive lineman in the draft, a position they have yet to address this offseason. Many assumed they traded their No. 12 overall pick and the No. 42 overall pick for the rights to take Oklahoma left tackle Lane Johnson (who went the next pick to the Philadelphia Eagles). But the Dolphins and GM Jeff Ireland opted for Jordan.

According to Darlington, the Dolphins were hoping to land West Virginia receiver Tavon Austin. But, after it looked like Austin would go in the top 10, the Dolphins decided to move up and grab another player high on their draft board.

Which leads to the obvious conclusion that the Dolphins are still in the market for another target for developing quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

The Dolphins are also reportedly interested in Kansas City Chiefs’ tackle Branden Albert. The Chiefs are believed to want a second round pick as compensation. The Dolphins hold the
