Miami Baseball May Play NCAA Regional Without Coach

When the Miami Hurricanes take the field on Friday at 2 p.m. to face Oklahoma State in the Louisville (Ky.) Regional, they may do so without coach Jim Morris.
Morris was hospitalized during the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. The Hurricanes traveled to Louisville on Wednesday without the 63-year-old Morris.
A University of Miami spokesman told FoxSportsFlorida.com that they are hoping Morris can rejoin the team at some point during the Louisville regional. There is no update on his condition as of Thursday.
Morris has coached Miami since 1994, and guided the Hurricanes to College World Series titles in 1999 and 2001. He is 886-367-3 overall at Miami.
Assistant coach Gino DiMare is leading the Hurricanes in Morris’ absence. DiMare has been an assistant at Miami for 14 seasons.
Miami is playing in the NCAA postseason for the 41st straight season. The Hurricanes (36-23) will play Oklahoma State (39-17) in a regional that also includes Louisville (46-12) and Bowling Green (24-29).
