Mets Looking To Trade Johan Santana

The Mets would love to trade Johan Santana, and are willing to pick up most of what remains on his contract, reports Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

“The Mets would help pay the $31 million left on Santana’s deal. As teams start to round off rotations, he could be a good fifth arm,” Cafardo explains.

During the Winter Meetings, Cafardo said while the Mets are willing to pay a portion of Johan Santana‘s salary, they had not received any trade inquires on him yet.

Last week, Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record wrote no one in the Mets organization who is talking about retaining Santana beyond 2013 after his contract expires.
