Matt Kemp Undergoes Ankle Surgery

Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp had surgery two weeks ago to “clean up” his left shoulder and now Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that he underwent surgery today to remove cartilage from his left ankle.

Kemp sprained his ankle in a home plate collision on July 21 and the injury lingered until he was ruled out for the playoffs. He won’t be able to put any weight on his foot for about a month and will be limited in his offseason training program. However, his agent, Dave Stewart, still expects him to be ready for Opening Day next season.

Kemp was limited to just 73 games this season, batting .270/.328/.395 with six home runs, 33 RBI, and a career-low .728 OPS. The 29-year-old still has six years and $128 million remaining on his contract.
