Marshall: Meriweather Should Be Taken Out Of Game Completely
Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is likely facing a one-game suspension for his latest head-targeting hit, this time against Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Although Marshall, one of the league's most physically imposing wideouts, thinks Meriweather needs an extended break from the game.
Marshall said, via the Chicago Tribune:
?Guys like that really don't understand that there is life after football. [...] I understand big hits, that is part of our game. But when you have a guy that does it week in and week out, that's when it becomes a problem."
And it's not just "week and and week out" in 2013. Meriweather was fined $20,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit during his year in Chicago, another $25,000 for unnecessary roughness, and $40,000 in 2010 with the Patriots for a vicious hit on then-Ravens tight end Todd Heap.
