RECAP: Marlins Can’t Solve Ervin Santana In 6-1 Loss To Braves
Marlins Offense Dormant As Win Streak Ends At Three
The Marlins modest three game winning streak ended tonight at the hands of Ervin Santana and the Braves as they lost by a final score of 6-1.
Nathan Eovaldi got the start in this one and though he didn’t pitch all that bad was still stuck with his sixth loss on the season. Eovaldi threw seven innings allowing five earned runs on six hits – including a home run – and two walks with just two strikeouts.
The Braves scored a run in the first inning tonight for the second straight game, as Justin Upton brought his brother B.J. home on a sacrifice fly.
The Braves offense didn’t take long to score more runs, either, as they broke the game open with a four run bottom of the second.
Miami answered back with a run of their own in the top of the third on a RBI single by Christian Yelich, but that was all the Marlins offense showed in this one.
With the loss the Fish move to 47-53 on the season, but with the Nationals losing tonight as well remain 8.5 games back of first place.

These pitchers have been on different tracks over their last three starts, though, as Alvarez owns a 4.91 ERA over his last 14 2/3 innings whereas Harang owns a 1.71 over 21 innings in that same span.
