Oklahoma State forward Marcus Smart is being held back by his teammates after pushing a fan at Texas Tech.

It was a wild night in Lubbock, Texas last night where at the end of the game the scoreboard read Texas Tech  65, Oklahoma State 61. The real story of the night was that super star Marcus Smart  lost his cool, after running into the stands to grab a loose ball and then a fan said something to Smart causing the player to push him.

And now the nation’s 19th ranked Oklahoma State’s season, already teetering in trouble, may have tipped completely Saturday in Lubbock with their fourth straight loss. Here from SPORTS TALK FLORIDA is the video of Smart going into the stands.

The fan who Smart shoved is Jeff Orr, an air traffic controller in Waco, Texas, who travels thousands of miles each year to attend Texas Tech basketball games, according to athletic department spokesman Blayne Beal.

Smart has claimed to Oklahoma State coaches that Orr called him a racial slur, a member of the basketball program confirmed to ESPN.

After Jaye Crockett hit a baseline 16-footer with 39 seconds remaining to put Tech ahead 63-61, Le’Bryan Nash turned the ball over, dribbling into trouble, then falling to the floor in the lane on the offensive end. With the Red Raiders on the break, Crockett was fouled and play extended out of bounds. Texas Tech fan Jeff Orr, who was seated behind the basket, said something to Smart. Smart then shoved the fan, receiving a technical foul. But he was not ejected from the game.

Expect the Big 12 to take action quickly to give Oklahoma State a chance to deal with the issues. According to ESPN Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby will review the incident Sunday under the conference’s sportsmanship policy, a conference official told ESPN. Bowlsby has a number of options at his disposal for Smart, from a private reprimand to a public reprimand to a suspension. Oklahoma State will have the ability to provide its side of the story

Smart returned to Oklahoma State this season although many scouts felt that he could have been a late first or a early second round NBA draft pick.
