Manchester United Unfazed by Glazer’s Death

Malcolm Glazer

The death of Manchester United and Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ owner Malcolm Glazer is still fresh in our minds. NFL and soccer fans have paid their respect to him after his death was announced Wednesday. But not all fans are truly distraught over this loss.

Unfortunately, Glazer wasn’t always appreciated by Man U fans. When he first became owner of the soccer franchise in 2005, many fans staged protests and even burned season tickets.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Manchester United Supporters’ Trust vice chair Sean Bones said he didn’t know the Glazer family.

“It would be inappropriate for me to make any comment about the death of Malcolm Glazer as I didn’t know him or his family personally.”

Bones went on to say that he does know about the impact that Malcolm had on the club.

“However, as a supporter, I am aware of the detrimental effect the Glazers have had on the … club and the huge debt that has been placed on Manchester United.”

Luckily, some fans are remaining civil and being respectful towards the family. After all, he did preside over the club’s most successful years. Fans must never forget that.
