Magic's Young Core Ready for 'Silver Season'
In the past year, Orlando Magic's General Manager Rob Hennigan has put together a young team that he envisions will help the Magic succeed.
In his first year as GM, Hennigan had to trade away a franchise player (Dwight Howard) and a fan favorite (J.J. Redick). As a result, players like Nikola Vucevic, Tobias Harris and Maurice Harkless joined the team. These players are young and have a lot to learn but they showed great potential last season.
During the Magic's game against the Miami Heat on New Year's Eve, Vucevic broke a franchise record of 28 rebounds, which was set by Shaquille ONeal in 1993. After that impressive performance, Vucevic racked up 46 double-doubles and went on to average a double-double for the rest of the season.
After arriving in Orlando, Tobias Harris became a dynamic player that gave the Magic an edge, which is something they didnt have for most of the season.Harris took advantage of the minutes he was given in Orlando and averaged 17.5 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. Teammate, Maurice Harkless improved throughout the season and has packed on some muscle during the off season.
Earlier this week Nik Vucevic, Tobias Harris, Maurice Harkless and Andrew Nicholson talked about their summer and what they did to improve their skills for the coming season.
