Victor Oladipo Orlando Magic 76ers [1]Orlando Magic’s rookie Victor Oladipo recorded his first career triple-double during an exciting match against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The match ended up going into double overtime after a clutch three pointer from Glen Davis. That is not a typo, Davis made a game tying three pointer with 18 seconds left the fourth quarter. Some of his teammates looked confused as he took the shot. He has only made six three pointers in his six year NBA career.

Despite losing the game 126-125 in double overtime, the Magic can take away several positives from this match.

First, Oladipo finished the night with a career high of 16 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds and 51 minutes. Setting career highs in four categories in one night is impressive. He is showing growth and maturity.

Secondly, Arron Afllalo just keeps on getting better and better each game. For the second time this season, Afflalo set a new career high of 43 points after playing a career high of 52 minutes. With Jameer Nelson out with a foot injury, Afflalo is clearly the leader on this team.

Third, Glen Davis is coming along nicely after being out almost a year with a foot injury. He scored a career high of 33 points against the 76ers and has been playing fairly well in the seven games this season. If he keeps it up, he will be traded in no time.

Also, Oladipo was not the only rookie with a triple double Tuesday night. Michael Carter-Williams also recored his first career triple double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. According to Elias Sports Bureau, that was the first time in NBA history two rookies recorded triple-doubles in the same game.

One alarming note from this game, Philadelphia out rebounded Orlando 56-34. Orlando’s double-double machine Nikola Vucevic was out against the 76ers because of a sprained left ankle he suffered Monday night against the Wizards. If Vucevic is out for more than just a couple of games, this is something the Magic will have to address immediately.

The Magic traveled to New York City after the game against Philadelphia. They will have Wednesday off and evaluate Vucevic and Nelson on Thursday before or after practice. The Knicks will host the Magic Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
