Insider: Magic’s Defense Key to Defeat Pacers
Posted By Mary Stevens On March 8, 2013 @ 1:36 PM In 1080 Sports,Insider Main,NBA | No Comments
The Magic’s defense will have to pressure the Pacers offense in order to walk away with the win.
The Magic beat the Pacers 97-86 back on Jan 16th.
Nik Vucevic led the Magic with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Arron Afflalo contributed 15 points and Jameer Nelson added 14 points.
The Pacers (38-23) are coming off a loss to the Boston Celtics. They struggled with their offense down the stretch giving the Celtics the upper hand.
Coincidently the last time the two teams met the Pacers also struggled on offense. They shot a season worst 2-for-17 from deep and trailed by as many as 22 points. On the other hand, the Magic made a season high of 12 three-pointers and totaled 29 assists.
In order to beat the Pacers, the Magic (17-45) will have to play they way they played in the second half in Miami. They have to get stops on demand and take care of the basketball in order to limit their turnovers.
The Magic have beat the Pacers three games in a row and they haven’t won in Orlando since Dec. 2007. Indiana holds the third seed in the East, below Miami and New York.
Friday night’s game will be the first of three games in which the team will wear “El Magic” jerseys as part of the Noche Latina presented by Chase. The jerseys will also be worn on March 22nd and March 25th when Orlando hosts Oklahoma City and Miami respectively.
Magic: Maurice Harkless, Andrew Nicholson, Nik Vucevic, Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson
Pacers: George Hill, Lance Stephenson, Paul George, David West and Roy Hibbert.
