Lightnings And Red Wings Scoreless At Second Intermission

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings remained locked in a scoreless battle after two periods of play.

Shots On Goal:

The Lightning held a 10-6 advantage after the first period but were outshot 13 to 3 in the second period and trail overall 19-13.

Special Teams:

The Lightning Penalty Kill was on the ice for the first time at the 2:05 mark as Tyler Johnson was sent off for hooking.

The Lightning Power Play unit took to the ice at the 4:35 mark when Johan Franzen was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct and at the 6:13 mark the Red Wings were called for too many men on the ice.  The Lightning had a two man advantage for 0:22 seconds.

Shortly into the remaining power play Tyler Johnson was called for high sticking resulting in 4 on 4 hockey. The Lightning penalty kill unit returned to the ice for the final 0:31 seconds of the Johnson penalty. At the end of the sequence the game remained scoreless.

The Lightning Power Play unit came back on the ice when Kyle Quincey was sent off for tripping.  The Lightning were unable to take advantage of the extra man.
