Bolts Cut Lead To 3-2 At Second Intermission

Bolts coach Jon Cooper has said that one important part of winning third periods is being in a position to make the period count. Entering the 2nd period tonight the Lightning trailed the Capitals 3-1 and had to work hard to get in position to cut the lead and be in position to make the third period count.

At the 6:45 mark the Bolts B.J. Crombeen [1] scored his first goal of the season and his first since March 5, 2013 (a span of 56 games) to cut the Bolts lead to 3-2.

The Lightning defense and Anders Lindback [2] held the Capitals off the board in the 2nd period to be withing striking distance heading into the 3rd period. The defense is down a man as Rakdo Gudas has being looked at with an upper body injury.

When trailing after two periods the Lightning have a record of 4-11-0 while the Capitals record when leading after two periods is 12-0-2.

The Lightning outshot the Capitals 11 to 6 in the 2nd period and lead 23-15 through the first two periods.
