Lightning Rally Late To Defeat Sabres 3-2
The Tampa Bay Lightning (7-3-0) defeated the Buffalo Sabres (2-10-1) by a final score of 3-2. The Sabres had jumped ahead on a Thomas Vanek goal at the 12:46 mark but the Lighting responded with goals by Martin St. Louis and Ondrej Palat to take the 3-2 victory.
What would a Sabres versus Lighting game be without Thomas Vanek entering his name in the score sheet? Entering the game he led all Sabres in points against the Lighting with with 38 points (23 goals + 15 assist) in 32 games against the Lightning. He added to that tally with a goal (assists to Marcus Foligno and Zemgus Girgensons) at the 12;46.
Losing the lead may have woken the Lightning up as they seemed to push their game into another gear afterwards.
The Lighting have a couple of guys that usually find their name into the score sheet and Marty St.Louis who had entered the game with 12 points (5 goals and 7 assists) in his last eight games.
