Teddy Purcell Notches Pair Of Goals To Lead Bolts To Victory

The Tampa Bay Lightning gave up leads of 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2 before holding on to win their fifth contest in a row defeating the Ottawa Senators by a final score of 5-4. The victory along with the Montreal Canadiens’ 3-2 loss in Columbus moves the Lightning into second place in the Atlantic Division.

The game entered the third period tied at three goals apiece until the Bolts took a lead on a goal by Erik Brewer 3:48 into the period. It was Brewers first goal in 95 games a string that dates back to February 24, 2013.

The Bolts received some breathing room in what turned out to be the eventual game winner when newcomer Ryan Callahan [1] scored at the 11:58 minute mark.

Valtteri Filppula [2] scored his 23rd goal on the season matching a career high for goals. Ben Bishop [3] made 31 saves on the night in picking up his 34th win on the season.
