Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said at his Wednesday press conference that Leonard Hankerson will have surgery on his knee after injuring his LCL in last Sunday’s loss to the Eagles. Hankerson will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Hankerson had 30 catches, 375 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games this season and was coming off of two of his better games of the season when he was hurt in Philadelphia.
Shanahan also announced that Josh Morgan will start in Hankerson’s place and that defensive linemen Adam Carriker has returned to practice. Shanahan said he believed in miracles when talking about Carriker’s chances of reaching the active roster this season. As for Morgan, although he said recently that he saw “no particular reason” why his playing time had decreased this season, he won’t be able to say the same thing about his return to the lineup.
