LeBron James NBA Player Of The Week
MIAMI, FL The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT forward LeBron James was named the Eastern Conference Player of Week for games played Monday, February 4, through Sunday, February 10. This marks the 41st time James has earned Player of the Week accolades in his career, the most times a player has earned the honors in NBA history. It also marks the 43rd time in franchise history a HEAT player has earned Player of the Week honors and the 15th time James has earned the honor as a member of the HEAT, tying for the most in team history. Additionally, this marks James fourth Player of the Week honor this season. He previously earned the honor for weeks ending November 11, November 18 and December 23.
James led the HEAT to a perfect 4-0 record, averaging 31.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.25 steals and 1.00 blocks while shooting 73.8 percent from the field and 61.5 percent from three-point range. He led the team in points in all four games, in steals, blocks and minutes twice each and in assists once. James has currently scored at least 30 points while shooting at least 60 percent from the field in five consecutive games, becoming only the third player in NBA history to achieve that feat. His current five-game 30-point streak set a new HEAT franchise record for consecutive 30-point games, surpassing the previous record of four which was set on three prior occasions. Additionally, he has continued his streak of scoring in double-figures in a career-high 467 consecutive games, including 189 as a member of the HEAT, a new franchise record.
James started the week off posting a game-high 31 points, dishing out a game-high eight assists, grabbing eight rebounds and recording a team-high two steals while shooting a single-game career-best 92.9 percent (13-of-14) from the field in a 99-94 win vs. Charlotte on February 4. His 92.9 percent night from the floor marked the second-best single-game shooting performance in HEAT franchise history. He then tallied 32 points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocks in a 114-108 victory on February 6 vs. Houston, scoring his 5,000th point as a member of the HEAT in the game, becoming the fastest player in franchise history to hit the milestone. Despite sitting out the fourth quarter in a 22-point, 111-89, win vs. the Los Angeles Clippers on February 8, he scored a game-high 30 points, six assists, five rebounds and two blocks while shooting 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the field and 80 percent (4-of-5) from three-point range. His 81.8 percent from the field tied his second-best single-game percent in his career, second to only the 92.9 percent he shot vs. Charlotte days earlier. He capped off the week posting a game-high 32 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals while shooting 66.7 percent (12-of-18) from the field in a 107-97 victory vs. the Los Angeles Lakers.
Among league leaders this season, James ranks fourth in scoring average (27.0), tied for sixth in field goal percentage (.562), tied for sixth in minutes per game (38.4), 11th in assists per game (6.9), 13th in steals per game (1.63), 17th in three-point field goal range (.421) and 26th in rebounds per game (8.1).
