UCF Knights in 2013 NFL Season
With the UCF football team on a bye this week, let’s take the opportunity to see how some former-Knights performed in the NFL this weekend.
There were plenty of Knights in action today with stand out wide receiver Brandon Marshall still to play tonight.
Cornerback Josh Robinson had a nice day for the Minnesota Vikings in their 31-27 loss. Robinson finished the game second on the team with six solo tackles
The defensive unit for the Vikings forced three turnovers, but allowed backup quarterback Brian Hoyer to throw for 321 yards and three touchdowns.
Asante Samuel, who has been battling a thigh injury, returned home to South Florida today, as the Atlanta Falcons lost to the Miami Dolphins 27-23. Samuel was limited in action, but managed to record a tackle and a pass deflect in the game, and helped hold the Dolphins to just 195 yards in the air.
You can’t forget about the offensive linemen, either. Left guard Josh Sitton helped the Green Bay Packers to 30 points, though in a losing effort to the Cincinnati Bengals. Sitton’s line had a phenomenal day blocking for the Packer rushers, who gained 182 yards on the ground.
Marshall and the Chicago Bears face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Marshall has 15 receptions after two games, with 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Also still to play is Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater. The Broncos and Oakland Raiders are slated for an 8:30 Monday-Night matchup on ESPN. Through the first two weeks, Prater is a perfect 2-for-2, both 40-yard-plus attempts, and has drilled all 12 extra points.UCF Knights in 2013 NFL Season by Bryan Levine
