Insider: Maurice Jones-Drew Talks Super Bowl
The NFL’s top rusher in 2011 sat down with ESPN’s Colin Cowherd in Indianapolis and gave his thoughts on who would win Super Bowl XLVI.
“I have to go with the Patriots because the Giants beat them in the Super Bowl and NFL Network is looping it all over the place. Eli Manning is getting more attention than Tom Brady, the NY media is all over the place taking over and it’s Giants, Giants, Giants.”
Maurice Jones-Drew, the ultimate underdog compares the Patriots to himself.
“No one ever gave me a chance and I built these chips on my shoulders and I’ve made a career of proving people wrong.
“I think the Patriots are getting tired of it.”
Jones-Drew talked about both teams, starting with New York.
“Hot, they’re very hot right now. Eli’s on fire right now and Victor Cruz is great.”
He feels New England has an edge playing the Giants the second time this season.
“It’s tough to beat them twice. They learn from their mistakes and its tough to beat them twice. The first time they played they had 4 turnovers. That won’t happen again.
“I don’t think Tom Brady is going to have a day where he has a pick. I know he bounces back because he’s from the same area as I am.”
MJD thinks this game will be much higher scoring than the previous meeting.
“I feel it’s high scoring. (As an offense) You get familiar with them and you understand how to attack their defense. You can use that aggressiveness and take it to another level.
“Turnovers in this game are going to be huge. The teams are so evenly matched. Vince Wilfork has turned their entire defense around.”
