Joel Embiid To Work Out For Cavaliers
Former Kansas star Joel Embiid on Tuesday arrived in Cleveland and will work out for the Cavaliers and undergo a medical evaluation that will likely determine whether the franchise takes him with the top overall pick in the NBA Draft, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
Embiid is believed to be the front runner for the Cavs, who will pick first overall in the NBA Draft, held on June 26. The decision will depend heavily on his medical evaluation by team doctors since he sat out the end of his freshman year.
The 7-footer averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks this past season with Kansas. He missed the Big 12 and NCAA tournament because of a back injury and didn't attend the Chicago Combine last month. He did partake in a 1-on-1 workout for NBA teams in Santa Monica, California last month.
According to ESPN, Andrew Wiggins, and Jabari Parker, who were both teammates of Embiid at Kansas, are also in the mix.
