Jets Winslow On The QB Battle And Braylon Edwards' Return
New York Jets TE Kellen Winslow spoke to the media Friday about the QB competition between Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez, Braylon Edwards return, and the battle at tight end.
On being back with Braylon Edwards
Thats my brother from another mother. Love that guy. Hes one of the best Ive seen, and its good, we were in Cleveland together and then we were in Seattle together. Didnt work out there for me, for whatever reason. But, its full circle now, and were back.
On the competition among the tight ends in camp
Theres competition every year, youve got to prove yourself every year. The whole tight end group is competing. Weve got a lot of playmakers on this team, and thats what training camp is about.
On if there is a front runner at Quarterback
This is day one. Nobodys the front runner. We may have ones, we may have twos, we may have threes. But guys go down and guys have to step up. Its just about competition right now and its only day one.
His impression of the Jets
Well, I know from experience that you cant always pay attention to what you see or you read. I know Rex (Ryan) and I played against him when I was with the Browns. One of the best defensive coaches Ive ever been around. I hated playing against him, so, I know he brings it and hes real passionate and he means what he says and thats how I am, and then thats how this team is going to be. Its going to reflect Coach Ryan. I love him.
