Jeff Driskel Signed With Red Sox But Loyal To UF
Driskel confirmed Thursday that he has signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox, who drafted the junior signal-caller in the 29th round of June’s Major League Baseball Draft. But Driskel said he’s in no rush to switch from the gridiron to the diamond, and will only pursue a baseball career once he’s elected to give up football entirely.
“After my college football career is over I want to pursue a professional career in the NFL,” Driskel said in a statement, per the Associated Press. “If I ever decide I want to play baseball, I want to play with the Boston Red Sox who drafted me in the recent draft.”
“Nothing changes,” Driskel added on his Twitter account. “I am still a full time student athlete at UF, fully committed to playing football.”
