JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis is making a strong case to stick around in 2014.

Lewis has 13 receptions for 172 yards and four touchdowns over the last four weeks. Eleven of those catches resulted in first downs. He also tied a franchise record with a TD catch in four consecutive games, emerging as the team’s top scoring threat.

His recent success has a lot to do with his health — he missed six games with a torn calf muscle — and a little to do with the loss of receivers Cecil Shorts III (groin) and Justin Blackmon (suspension).

It’s questionable whether Lewis will be back. His salary jumps from $4.2 million to $6.7 million next season, which would make him the team’s second-highest paid player.
