Jaguars Activate OL Austin Pasztor
The Jacksonville Jaguars today activated rookie offensive lineman Austin Pasztor to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Rookie wide receiver Kevin Elliott was waived and the club signed rookie wide receiver Jerrell Jackson to the practice squad.
Pasztor, 6-7, 308, was signed by the Jaguars to the practice squad on Sept. 17 where he has spent the last 12 weeks. He was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted rookie on May 4 and was waived on final cuts. The Langton, Ontario native was selected fourth overall by the Edmonton Eskimos in the 2012 Canadian Football League Draft.
Pasztor was a four-year starter at Virginia where he mostly played left guard. He started all 13 games as a senior and earned second-team Associated Press All-America honors while being selected first-team All-ACC. He started eight games as a freshman at left guard alongside Jaguars left tackle Eugene Monroe. He attended Fork Union Military Academy as a high school senior. He also played on the Junior Ontario Varsity Football League all-star team before moving south his senior season. Pasztor will wear jersey number 79.
Jackson, 6-0, 192, spent the preseason with the Houston Texans after signing as a rookie free agent and was waived on final cuts. He was a four-year letterman at Missouri where he played with Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert. He finished his career with 113 receptions for 1,434 yards and six touchdowns. As a junior in 2010 he caught a career-high 50 passes for 656 yards and three scores. Jackson starred at Davis High School in Houston where he played both ways as a wide receiver and defensive back. He was also a three-time all-district performer in basketball and three-time regional qualifier in track.
