Jags’ Shorts Ready For Seattle’s CBs

Jaguars_Cecil_Shorts_III_2012Seeing what Oakland’s defense had done in its opener, realizing his own team’s problems on offense and sensing his best receiver’s opening-game frustrations, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley pulled Cecil Shorts aside last week before heading to the West Coast.

Bradley knew the Raiders would shade their safety toward Shorts’ side of the field, partly out of respect for his 2012 production and partly because, well, who else are they going to double team?

And then Bradley challenged Shorts.

“I said to him, ‘What are you going to do if they start doing that?’ Is it going to make you average? Is it going to make you normal?” Bradley said. “As a competitor, I told him it should raise the level of his game when that occurs and get his juices going.”
