At the University of Michigan, he started 37 games — 35 at quarterback — and was the first player in NCAA history to pass for 2,500 yards and rush for 1,500 in a single season.
Despite all his athletic skills, NFL teams weren’t sure whether he fit into an NFL offense. He fell to the fifth round before the Jaguars took him.
The Jaguars listed him as an OW (offensive weapon) and tried to figure out how to use him, but with little success.
“We tried him at wildcat and tried him at receiver and we just said that didn’t work real well,’’ said Jaguars coach Gus Bradley. “Let’s put him at tailback.
