Is Corey Crawford ‘Under the Gun’ Against The Blues?
Corey Crawford, who has just won a Stanley Cup championship with the Chicago Blackhawks is now suddenly on the hot seat after surrendering four crucial goals against the St. Louis Blues in the first round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Blues tied game 1 with 1:45 remaining in regulation and would eventually win in triple overtime on Alexander Steen’s goal 16 seconds into play.
The next night, Crawford had allowed the Blues to tie the game with less than seven seconds remaining in the third period on Vladimir Tarasenko’s vicious wrist shot and then gave up the winner to put the Blackhawks in a 2-0 hole.
When the Blackhawks returned to home ice Monday night for the third game of the series, Crawford was once again the marvelous goalie who had played a huge role in the team’s championship run last year. He stopped all 34 shots he faced, and his performance keyed the Blackhawks’ 2-0 victory.
The Blackhawks hope to even the series tomorrow night in Chicago.
