Insider: UCF Women Soccer to Host In NCAA Tournament
The UCF Women Soccer team made the NCAA Tournament once again but this time they will get to host as UCF will take on FIU in 1st round of NCAA Tournament which will begin on friday night at 7pm at UCF Soccer Complex.FIU comes in as the Sun Belt Champion. It is the 5th straight time and 10th time under Head Coach Amanda Cromwell that UCF has made NCAA Tournament. Should the Knights advance to the 2nd round, they would face the winner of Florida and Florida Gulf Coast. The Gators are the number 2 national seed on bracket where Wake Forest is the number 1 seed. The Knights faced Wake Forest back on August 21st losing 1-0 at UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights has made it to 2nd round of NCAA Tournament the last four seasons.
The Knights went 11-4-5 on the season finishing 4th in Conference USA standings in regular which was first time the Knights did not win regular season title since 2008. The Knights were upset in 1st round of CUSA Tournament last week in Memphis by East Carolina 2-1. The Knights played a tough national schedule out of conference with marquee wins against nationally ranked Penn State and Washington State in a neutral field in Virginia. The Knights had a great RPI of 20 as a result of the difficult schedule as Penn State is a National 4 seed in the NCAA Toururnament.
The Knights are led by senior goalie Aline Reis who has 8 shutouts this season with a 0.81 goals against average and is up for many national player of the year awards including Lowe’s Senior Class Award. Junior forward Tishia Jewell leads the Knights offense with 6 goals and 8 assts on the season for total of 20 points to lead the team. Fellow junior forward Nicolette Radovcic leads the Knights with 7 goals on season and 4 assts for 2nd on the team in points with 18.

– UCF faced 5 teams who are in NCAA Tournament with a 2-2-1 record. The Knights played Penn State (W), Florida Gulf Coast (T), Memphis(L), Wake Forest (L), and Washington State (W)
– It is 16th time UCF Womens Soccer Prrogram has made it to the tournament which is the most of any school in the state
– Other teams from Sunshine State to make NCAA Tournament include Florida ( SEC At Large) as a national 2 seed , Florida State who one of four number 1 national seeds in the tournament and comes in after winning ACC Championship., Miami who is a ACC At Large , FIU (Sun Belt Champion), and Florida Gulf Coast (A-SUN Champion)
-The No 13 ranked UCF Mens Soccer team will begin play in Conference USA Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma as they will play Memphis. The Knights enter as the number 3 seed in the tournament come in with 10-4-3 record overall and figure to make 2nd straight NCAA Tournament appearance as they been ranked in top 25 for most of the season and were in contention for regular season
