Insider: UCF Defeats Belmont to Win Holiday Tournament
The Knights got 26 points and 10 rebounds from Keith Clanton and Kasey Wilson added 10 pts and 8 rebounds as the Knights knock off Belmont 66-63 to win the UCF Holiday Classic. Its the 3rd year in a row the Knights win the tournament they host and they do it by knocking off Belmont who has become an NCAA Tournament regular. The Knights defense shutdown the Bruins 3 point game which coming into the game had averaged eight three pointers per game and shot 38% from 3. The Knights held Belmont to 26% from the perimeter (7/26) and only 37% from the field for the entire game. UCF jumped out to 33-21 halftime lead as they held Belmont to 1 three pointer in 11 attempts and withstood the Bruins rally late in the 2nd half to win the tournament and head in to match-up with USF on Wednesday Night with a 9-3 record and winners of six of the last seven.
