Insider: Tampa Bay Lightning Training Camp, Day 4
The Tampa Bay Lightning took to the ice in day four of training camp in Estero, and as it has been all week, the biggest story of the day was Cory Conacher.
Conacher, who has been playing on a scoring line with Vincent Lecavalier and Teddy Purcell all week, got time on the second power play unit in practice today, and afterward said that opportunity helps him gain confidence.
“It was a little nerve racking just being out there on the power play,” Conacher said. “As the practice went on, I was starting to a little more comfortable. Hopefully I can start making better plays, more quality plays, and take a little more time instead of rushing things. That all comes in time with practice and talking with guys on the ice that you are with.
Conacher also talked a bit about how the week has gone at up to this point, how he continues to battle for a spot, and how he is constantly working with his two line mates to get better as camp goes on.
“I’m still battling for a position,” Conacher said. “I’m still on the line, obviously the coaching staff and the management has given me a great opportunity to play with two outstanding players. I have just got to keep working hard for those guys and hopefully things will open up.”

For the first time in training camp, there was an on ice power play practice.
