Insider: Magic, Nelson Reach Agreement
Jameer Nelson, who has spent his entire eight-year career with Orlando Magic, will be returning to the Orlando Magic next season.
According to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Nelson and the Magic have “reached an agreement on a new deal.”
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. This scenario was predicted here when Nelson opted out last week.
Nelson averaged 11.9 points, 5.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Magic last season. Nelson shot 42.7% from the field and 37.7% from beyond the arc.
In the postseason, Nelson upped those averages to 15.6 points, 6.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.
For his career, Nelson has averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, including his All-Star season in 2008 when he put up 16.7 points per game on 50.3% shooting from the field and 45.3% shooting from beyond the arc in 42 games.
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
