Insider: Injuries keep piling up for Magic
The Magic’s line up consisted of two rookies, Maurice Harkless and Kyle O’Quinn, two two-year players, Tobias Harris and E’Twaun Moore and veteran point guard Jameer Nelson.
Arron Afflalo who leads the team in scoring will miss the rest of the season with strained right hamstring.
The Magic’s rebound machine Nik Vucevic has missed the last three games after sustaining a mild concussion against the Pacers on March 19th. He is listed day-to-day and may return to the line up when the Magic play the Bobcats on Wednesday.
In the first quarter, rookie Andrew Nicholson sprained his left ankle and is listed day-to-day.
Nelson led the team with 27 points and 12 assists followed by Harris’ 20 points, two blocks and five rebounds.
Harkless contributed seven points and nine rebounds. The youngster also recorded a steal extending his streak of at least one steal to 10 consecutive games. In the last six games, Harkless has averaged 3.3 steals per game. That is an impressive stat considering that Chris Paul who currently leads the NBA with 2.41 steals per game.
E’Twaun Moore came close to a triple double as he scored 13 points, seven assists and nine rebounds.
The Magic put up a fight throughout out the game. They had a strong first quarter as they shot at 57.9 percent from the field. The Heat made some adjustments in the second quarter and limited the Magic to 22.6 field goal percentage.
With three and half minutes left in the third quarter, Nelson knocked down a three and tied the game 68-68. The Heat ended the third quarter on a 10-0 run and remained in control for the rest of the game.
