FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS
We are nearing the end of the second week in preseason in the NFL. After this week, we are only two Sunday’s away from the start of the fantasy football season.

Whether you are preparing for your upcoming draft, or you are waiting in angst for your league to finally to begin, here are some important fantasy football news you should be aware of.
Jordan Matthews Is Looking Like A Stud
Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews was exceptional in Friday night’s second preseason game as he went for nine catches and 104 receiving yards. If Matthews continues to show his raw talent during preseason, he can surpass everyone’s expectations and he can become Nick Foles favorite target in Philadelphia. As of right now, you can draft him safely as a WR3 with a high ceiling.
You May Want To Think About Reaching For Jimmy Graham In Your Draft
If your fantasy football draft did occur, you might wish you had a reset button if you did not have the opportunity to select Graham. He was an absolute monster in the New Orleans Saints matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Friday while hauling in four receptions for 48 receiving yards and, two goal-post dunk touchdowns. If you thought last season was special for Graham, I have a strong feeling we can see a record-setting season by another tight end.
We Are Going Hunting
Tennessee Titans second-year wide receiver Justin Hunter is getting ready to break-out in 2014. He is not being drafted in many fantasy football leagues, but he is finally on everyone’s radar after exploding Friday night. Hunter had four receptions for 111 receiving yards while scoring twice. There are not many offensive weapons in Tennessee right now and it should not be any surprise if he surpasses Nate Washington on the depth charts in the middle of the season.
Nick Foles Compares Zach Ertz to Rob Gronkowski
This is quite the compliment from Foles to Ertz, but I would not put him in the same category as Gronkowski yet. It is interesting to point Foles was Gronkowski’s quarterback when they both played at the University of Arizona. In his rookie season in 2013, Ertz had a respectable line of 36 receptions, 469 receiving yards, and four touchdowns. Ertz has the potential to make some noise in 2014 without any security blankets for Foles outside of LeSean McCoy on offense.
Matt Schaub Continues To Struggle
Oakland Raiders quarterback preseason troubles continued in the Raiders second game as he completed 8-of-13 passes for 87 yards and an interception. He has been awful during the exhibition season as he is now 11-of-20 and passing for only 108 yards. As long as Schaub’s woes continue, the offense will be stagnant as well for the Raiders. I do not think there is a single player I can draft with confidence from Oakland. However, nothing can be worse than the butt-fumbles by Mark Sanchez.
Drew Brees and Jordy Nelson Sit
For the second straight preseason game, both Drew Brees and Jordy Nelson were absent from their teams contests, but this is more of a precautionary reason more than anything. Brees is recovering from an oblique strain, and Nelson is nursing a sore hamstring. Both players should still be drafted with confidence.
Jay Cutler Is Poised For A Huge Season
Cutler had another great performance in the Chicago Bears exhibition game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If Cutler can stay healthy, he has the offensive pieces around him to emerge as a top-10 quarterback in fantasy football in 2014. You can select Cutler extremely late during your fantasy as a high-end QB1.
