It’s looking like the Florida Gators will be without backup freshman guard Kasey Hill. The No.2 team in the country will welcome the Auburn Tigers to Gainesville Wednesday night.
Head coach Billy Donovan spoke to the media Monday saying that “right now, he [Hill] is out for practice. My guess right now and I’ll have a better idea tomorrow [Tuesday] is that he is doubtful and not going to play on Wednesday.”
Hill had suffered a groin injury last Saturday during Florida’s 69-59 win over Kentucky.
While the freshman isn’t a starter, he has been contributing significantly, playing in 21 of their 25 games this season. In 23 minutes, Hill is averaging over five points and just behind senior guard Scottie Wilbekin with three assists per game.
When Wilbekin isn’t on the floor, Donovan said he will “probably look at three guys…Doe-Doe [Dorian Finney-Smith], DeVon Walker, [Michael] Frazier” to help move the offense.
UF is 8-0 at home against Auburn under Donovan, winning their last five and going 15 of their last 16 meetings with the Tigers. If the Gators win, that will be their 30th straight victory at home.
It will also give them their 18th consecutive win this season; the programs best, something not even those back-to-back national championship teams could accomplish.
