Adding the new pitch was something that he felt could really help him syaing, “I think it’ll play in very well, better than my previous changeup from years past. And it’s an easier pitch for me to throw for a strike, too. I think it’ll be a huge weapon going into the year after I get some work on it.”
In picking up his first major league victory over the Texas Rangers he worked six scoreless innings allowing only three hits striking out four and walking three. He effectively used the changeup to keep the Ranger hitters off balance as well as to pick up some key strikeouts along the way.
