Hurricanes’ Morris Expected to Play Against USF

University of Miami quarterback Stephen Morris injured his ankle and left the game midway through the first quarter against Savannah State last week. The Canes did not miss their starting signal-caller too badly as they went on to win the game by 70 points.
Luckily for Morris and Miami fans, the injury does not appear to be too serious. Morris was diagnosed with a bone bruise and told reporters on Monday that “the ankle feels good” and that the “only pain you really get is it’s just kind of stiff.”
Both the quarterback and head coach, Al Golden, are confident that Morris will start in Tampa against USF this Saturday.
If, for some unforeseen reason, Morris is not ready to go, the Hurricanes will turn to redshirt junior, Ryan Williams who transferred from Memphis in 2011. Williams took over for Morris in the first quarter against Savannah State and played well. He completed 11 of 13 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns, bringing his career totals at Miami to 29 of 37 (78.4 percent) for 303 yards and three touchdowns.
