Paul Goldschmidt, Jose Abreu Won’t Participate In Home Run Derby

Home Run Derby

The Home Run Derby is always one of the most exciting things to watch as a fan. We get the chance to see some of the greatest sluggers step up to the plate and mash batting practice pitches 400-500 feet into the stands.

Last year we saw Yoenis Cespedes dominate the derby, but this year some of the game’s top right-handed power hitters aren’t interested in participating.

Fox Sports reports that Arizona Diamondbacks first basemen Paul Goldschmidt doesn’t want to participate and CBS Sports reports the same about White Sox first basemen Jose Abreu.

Here’s what Goldschmidt had to say about the event:

“It’s not something, if they asked, that I would be interested in doing.”

Here’s what Abreu had to say:

“Home Run Derby is not something I’m too crazy about. It’s a good thing but I’m not really interested or looking forward to. I really wouldn’t want to do it. I did it in Cuba several times and I wasn’t much into it.”
